New Here?

You're in the right place!

Visiting a new church can feel a little awkward — we get it! But it doesn’t have to be that way. At Somerset First UMC, there are lots of ways to get connected and feel at home.

No matter your comfort zone, there’s a way for you to connect, grow, and feel part of our church family.

Join us for worship — in person or online!
  • 9:00 AM Contemporary Worship in the Lower Fellowship Hall
  • 11:00 AM Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary

We are located in downtown Somerset, just two blocks east of the fountain at the intersection of East Mount Vernon Street @ Central Avenue.  Ample Parking is available across from the church. Click Here for directions.

Want to meet people and make a difference? Jump in by volunteering in ways that match your gifts and interests — from helping with events to serving in our community. Just click the button below to discover ways to connect in-person OUTSIDE of worship.

If big crowds aren’t your thing, try one of our smaller adult discipleship groups. It’s a great way to grow in faith and friendship.

Families often connect through our Children’s Ministry and Youth Group. While your kids learn about Jesus and have fun, you’ll find your own place to belong too.  For kids under 3 years old, we have a nursery that will care for the little ones while the grown-ups attend the small group of their choice and/or worship.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Whatever you are comfortable wearing! Yes -- we are SERIOUS about that! We even had one member come in her pajamas (as a joke) one Sunday morning! Truly, I tell you, she was welcome, pj's and all!

Q: Where do I drop off my child?
A: On non-Communion Sundays, children stay with parents at the start of worship. Just before the sermon, we show a short “Children’s Moment” video, and our Children’s Ministry leaders guide the kids to Children’s Church. Afterward, a greeter will help you pick them up.

On Communion Sundays, children remain with parents—we provide “busy bags” to help them stay engaged. We love having the kids with us one Sunday each month, even if there’s some extra giggles and wiggles!

Q: Are there food and drinks?

A: At our 9AM Contemporary Worship in the Lower Fellowship Hall, free coffee and water are always available, and occasionally kind attendees bring light snacks like cookies or breakfast bread. At the 11AM Traditional Service, food and drinks aren’t typically provided, but you’re welcome to bring a covered beverage.

Q: Where should I park?

A: There is limited parking on the street in front of the church and ample free parking across the street.

Q: Which door should I use?

A: If you’re wondering which door to use, here’s a quick guide:
    • For the 9AM Contemporary Service or any event in the Lower Fellowship Hall:
Use the doors on the left side of the church, down the ramp.
This is also the best entrance for wheelchair or mobility-access needs.
    • For the 11AM Traditional Service or any event in the Sanctuary:
      • Use the red doors at the front of the sanctuary facing Central Avenue.
    • For handicap-access to the Sanctuary:
Use the door on the far right side of the sanctuary—there’s a wooden ramp there.
