SFUMC is delighted to host the Pulaski County Health Department’s HEART Program!

HEART (Healing Empowering Actively Recovering Together) was created to assist pregnant and parenting women less than one year postpartum, who are struggling with Substance Use Disorder. Fathers are also encouraged to attend, provided that they are in active recovery and have no history of domestic violence.

Heart is hosted by HANDS staff, Early Childhood Mental Health staff, and peer suport specialists in long-term recovery. This group utilizes evidence-based curricula and allows participants to practice the skills they learn with their child in a supportive and non-judgemental environment.

The HEART program helps participants to learn how to find community supports for those in long-term recovery, as well as self-care strategies and how to talk about their feelings. By attending weekly meetings, individual sessions and drug screens, participants are eligible to participate in HEART incentives programs, including gas cards and lunch.

On-site child care by trained and CPR-certified staff is available for meeting sessions — THIS IS WHERE SFUMC comes in! The Pulaski County Health Department has asked us to provide volunteers to help with child care!

If you would like to support this very noble and needed program by helping to provide child care or would like to learn more about it, please contact Mike Girdler by clicking one of the buttons below:

If you know someone that might be interested in participating in HEART, please forward this email to them and/or ask them to call 606-679-4416 to sign-up.
